Currently and more commonly since 2013, patients are treated with all freeze protocols so the embryos can be tested for chromosomal problems. These types of treatments involve ovarian stimulation, egg harvest, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, embryo culture, laser assisted hatching, blastocyst trophectoderm biopsies, and freezing of the blastocysts after the biopsy. The normal embryo is implanted a few weeks later in a frozen/thaw embryo transfer cycle. The price for an all freeze IVF for pre-implantation genetic screening is $12,750. The follow up frozen embryo thaw and implantation cycle fee is $3,800. International patients may request a fresh embryo transfer after embryo biopsies if they meet the criteria for a fresh embryo transfer and understand that the “quick result” biopsy test is much less detailed.
The types of costs mentioned below apply to treatments during which a fresh embryo transfer is implanted a few days after the harvest of the eggs.
(Basic IVF covers all office visits, ultrasounds, hormone testing for monitoring, oocyte harvest via transvaginal ultrasound, anesthesia, anesthesiologist fees, embryo cryopreservation, preoperative and postoperative care, embryo transfer and 1 month storage of embryos until transfer to long term storage facility. Please note that the American College of Ob/Gyn has recommended that all Caucasians should undergo a Cystic Fibrosis Genetic Carrier Screen prior to conception. This is based on a 1 in 25 chance of being a carrier for C.F., the most common lethal genetic disease in Caucasians. Other ethnic groups should consult with their Ob/Gyn about what other tests are available for them. Examples of these include Sickle Cell screen for African Americans and Tay Sachs disease screening for Jewish couples.
