Currently and more commonly since 2013, patients are treated with all freeze protocols so the embryos can be tested for chromosomal problems. These types of treatments involve ovarian stimulation, egg harvest, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, embryo culture, laser assisted hatching, blastocyst trophectoderm biopsies, and freezing of the blastocysts after the biopsy. The normal embryo is implanted a few weeks later in a frozen/thaw embryo transfer cycle.
The types of costs mentioned below apply to treatments during which a fresh embryo transfer is implanted a few days after the harvest of the eggs.
