The stories in this chapter are not real patients’ stories because we may not share their real names and their medical details. However these stories reflect actual and typical ICSI experiences, including those in our patients.

From Multiple Failed IUIs to Twin Joy.

When S. and T. from Tampa first visited our clinic, they had already experienced the emotional toll of three failed IUI cycles. “Each negative test felt like a step backward,” S. recalls. During their consultation, we identified that Tom’s sperm morphology issues were likely preventing successful conception. We recommended ICSI as their next step.

“I remember feeling nervous about the more intensive nature of ICSI, but Dr. Pabon and his team took the time to explain every detail,” says T.M. “They even showed us videos of the procedure and introduced us to the embryology team who would be handling our case.”

Their ICSI cycle proceeded smoothly, with S. responding well to the stimulation medications. On retrieval day, they were able to collect 12 eggs, of which 9 were mature. The embryology team performed ICSI on all mature eggs, achieving fertilization in 8 of them. “Getting that phone call about our fertilization results was one of the most exciting moments of our journey,” S. remembers.

Today, S. and T.M. are parents to healthy twins, a boy and a girl. “Looking back, what seemed like such a complex and daunting procedure was made manageable by the incredible support we received. The embryology team’s expertise truly made all the difference.”

Victory Over Male Factor Infertility

L. and A.J. from Naples came to us with a unique set of circumstances. As a same-sex couple, they knew they would need donor sperm, but they wanted to maximize their chances of success with their limited donor sperm samples.

“We chose ICSI because we learned it could give us the best possible chance with each precious sperm sample,” L. explains. Their journey involved careful coordination with the sperm bank and our laboratory team to ensure optimal timing.
